INNOVISION’13, ‘a Scientific Perspective’, encourages students to develop their social view as well as technical skills through a variety of events and competitions. With this vision, Jayawant Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s Rajarshi Shahu College Of Engineering, has been successfully organized ‘INNOVISION’, a National Level Socio-Technical Symposium, for the students of Engineering and management on 23rd & 24th February 2013. More than 3000 engineering and management students from 150 colleges across the nation participated in the event. The Founder Secretary of the J.S.P.M. showed his satisfaction for the overwhelming response from the prestigious institutes across the country. The guests were warmly welcomed and felicitated by the Principal and coordinators, followed by lighting the lamp and saraswati pujan.

A heartwarming presentation was shown covering event details and RSCOE campus which was compiled by students and faculty members. The mega event was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Vasudeo Gade (Vice Chancellor,University of Pune) and Guests of Honor Dr. M. K. Khedkar, (Vice Chancellor, SGBAU, Amravati), Dr. Sunil Bhirud (Advisor, AICTE, Delhi), Prof. P. V. Sarode (Joint Director DTE Maharashtra) and other dignitaries which presided the function were Prof. T.J. Sawant (Patron and founder Secretary of JSPM), J.S.P M. Director Prof. M. D. Takle, Prof. Ravi Joshi, Dr. P.P Vitkar, Mr. S.L. Bhilare, Mr. M.S. Joshi, Dr. Ms. M.M Puri, Dr. D.S. Bormane (Principal RSCOE), Dr. Y.B. Chavan (Vice Principal), Prof. A. S. Devasthli (Vice Principal) and all the Campus Directors and Principals of various institutes of J.S.P.M. Dr. Vasudeo Gade (Vice Chancellor, University of Pune) focused on the issue quoting that “The country requires the thought leaders which can be created from such socio-technical events and develop the technologies which would be useful for society like developing the technology which would transfer the excess water from western Maharashtra to the draught prone areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha”. He also highlighted that no of research patents are not transferred into applications this is wastage of research so please develop such application from research. He also congratulated the college for achieving such a great progress in short period of time and getting the Best college award in professional category from University of Pune. Audience was also guided by the inspiring words of Dr. M. K. Khedkar, (Vice Chancellor, SGBAU, Amravati) and Dr. Sunil Bhirud (Advisor, AICTE, Delhi). Dr. Khedkar also highlighted second position of women in society by giving precise examples. In this symposium, RSCOE is arranging near about 35+ technical, management and social competitions.

The major attractions of the event were many robotics related competitions like Line Follower, Drag Race, IC engine racing, and manual robotics competitions which received a huge response from students of all colleges from not only Pune but from all over India like Andhrapradesh, Gujrat, Karnataka, Tamil Naidu etc . The computer gaming events, Network Treasure hunt, BIOSCOPE, Crysis-Programming contest, Concrete Cube testing, Model Making, Electronica, Mad Ads, Best Manager, Paper presentation event and aptitude tests which attracted students from all over India. Every year we work on particular theme which focuses on social issue.

This time “Protect Woman and Respect them” is theme of Innovision. After seeing the current situation across the country to create the social awareness amongst the people and to safe guard the woman in our society, this theme has been undertaken by our institute. In accordance to this, a Photo Exhibition and a Model Making competition was organized. Along with this, a Movie- Making competition was also held to highlight the seriousness of the theme. Also a Panel of Experts from various social and Industrial fields discussed the theme. Prizes worth Rupees 2.5 lakhs were distributed. Students of Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering won the maximum prizes, and shared their success along with the other college including I.I.M., M.I.T., Dr D.Y. Patil College of Engineering (Akurdi, Pimpri), P.I.C.T., Modern College of Engineering Pune, Sinhagad Institute of Technology etc. Innovision also owes its success to Prof. T.J. Sawant (Patron and founder Secretary of JSPM ), Dr. D.S. Bormane (Principal), Prof. A.S. Devasthali (Vice- Principal), Prof. Y.B. Chavan (Vice Principal), Dr. P. K. Deshmukh (Co-ordinator) , Prof. Paithane, Prof. Ravi P. Patki, Prof. Mujumdar, Prof. Santosh Javheri, the Heads of the departments, various event coordinators, faculty members and the student Co-ordinators , Suparshva Rasane, Onkar Malekar, Kartik Iyer, Ankit Sus, Dada Sable, Jason Vijoy, Sharad Mulay, Nishant Borse, Piyush Khisti, Bhushan Nijampurkar, who collectively contributed to this event.
